Standard Chartered Mobile Banking 2.0

Prompt

While the previous SC Mobile works fine and fulfils the banking necessities, its function still can be enhanced. Our team’s task was to improve the app so it drive customers to use the app more.

We kickstarted the project by doing guerilla research on the usage of online banking. We went to couple of physical branch and ask customers who are around with a short survey about their day to day banking activities and needs.

User flow

From the findings, we found that the most important thing for users is to check their account activity and balances. Our goal is try to create a couple of features that allow customer to do “banking at a glance” with the new SC Mobile App.

Prototypes

As the lead designer for this project, I have created a bunch of design iterations of the landing screen design itself. The challenge is to let users access the new pre-login features as seamless as possible and the amount of information delivered must be precise.

Welcome Screen

The new widgets contain the pre-login feature like seeing balances and transaction history at a glance. Not to forget the stunning background video that customisable for each market.

Push Notifications

Another interesting feature is push notification or what it's simply called Inbox. Customers can now opt to get their banking notifications to the app straight away.

Learnings

If I could do this project again, I’d probably do a more comprehensive research, not just merely taking requirements from business/country team. Having an in-depth conversation with different profile of customer.s would have been more beneficial to get more information on their behaviour.
